Makeup Review: The Blushed Nudes Palette by Maybelline New York

Today I am going to be reviewing The Blushed Nudes palette by Maybelline New York. It is $13.96 at Walmart (Canada), but I got it on sale for $11.95. It has 12 press powder shadows that can be used as 3 quads, 4 trios, or 6 duos.

Let's start with the packaging.
The case is a cute rose gold colour which I absolutely love! It's a plastic click close palette with a window on the front that shows the shadows inside. I really like being able to see the colours before you purchase. The name of the palette is just below the window.

The back lets you know that there are 13 looks that you can accomplish and that you can find  swatches and how-to's at www.maybelline.com/eyeshadow. It also shows you all the combinations (quads, trios and duos) that you can do with the palette as well as instructions on how to use the combinations.

It also lists all the ingredients which are as follows;

Shimmer Shades: TALC TRIISOSTEARIN HYDROGENATED POLYDECENE MAGNESIUM STEARATE SYNTHETIC WAX CALCIUM SODIUM BOROSILICATE SYNTHETIC FLUORPHLOGOPITE HDI/TRIMETHYLOL HEXYLLACTONE CROSSPOLYMER CAPRYLYL GLYCOL SILICA CALCIUM ALUMINUM BOROSILICATE ALUMINA PERLITE TIN OXIDE MAGNESIUM SILICATE [+/- MAY CONTAIN / PEUT CONTENIR MICA CI 77891 / TITANIUM DIOXIDE CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499 / IRON OXIDES CI 77400 / BRONZE POWDER CI 77007 / ULTRAMARINES CI 77742 / MANGANESE VIOLET CI 77000 / ALUMINUM POWDER CI 75470 / CARMINE CI 77163 / BISMUTH OXYCHLORIDE CI 77510 / FERRIC FERROCYANIDE CI 19140 / YELLOW 5 LAKE CI 77288 / CHROMIUM OXIDE GREENS CI 42090 / BLUE 1 LAKE CI 77510 / FERRIC AMMONIUM FERROCYANIDE CI 77400 / COPPER POWDER Matte Shades: TALC SYNTHETIC FLUORPHLOGOPITE NYLON-12 TRIISOSTEARIN PHENYL TRIMETHICONE MAGNESIUM STEARATE DIMETHICONE SILICA CAPRYLYL GLYCOL CALCIUM SODIUM BOROSILICATE SYNTHETIC WAX CETYL DIMETHICONE CALCIUM ALUMINUM BOROSILICATE HYDROGENATED POLYDECENE TRIMETHYLSILOXYSILICATE PERLITE ALUMINA HDI/TRIMETHYLOL HEXYLLACTONE CROSSPOLYMER TIN OXIDE MAGNESIUM SILICATE [+/- MAY CONTAIN / PEUT CONTENIR MICA CI 77891 / TITANIUM DIOXIDE CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499 / IRON OXIDES CI 77947 / ZINC OXIDE CI 77007 / ULTRAMARINES CI 77742 / MANGANESE VIOLET CI 77000 / ALUMINUM POWDER CI 75470 / CARMINE CI 77400 / BRONZE POWDER CI 77510 / FERRIC FERROCYANIDE CI 77288 / CHROMIUM OXIDE GREENS CI 77163 / BISMUTH OXYCHLORIDE CI 19140 / YELLOW 5 LAKE CI 77400 / COPPER POWDER CI 42090 / BLUE 1 LAKE CI 77510 / FERRIC AMMONIUM FERROCYANIDE

Inside you will find two all black double ended sponge applicators (I've misplaced one).

Now onto the shadows.
The first row has the following; shimmery white, light shimmery pink with a hint of sparkles, a shimmery silver/gray, a peachish pink shimmer shadow, a light mauve matte and a brown shimmery colour.
The second row has the following; a shimmery bronze, a dark matte brown with fine sparkles, a medium grey matte, a dark grey matte, a medium rose gold shimmer and a dark brown matte with purpleish pink sparkles.

When swatching these shadows I noticed that a lot of them have a more chalky texture, although they do swatch pretty well. The rose gold and bronze colours are my favourite and seem to be smoother than the rest. When applying them to my eye, even with primer, I found that it took quite a bit to build up the colours to achieve the pigmentation that I wanted but once built up I did like how they looked.

I did get a chance to do a look with this pallet using the dark browns and the bronze. The shadows did hold up all day in crazy heat so that was definitely a plus to me.
If I had to give this pallet a rating out of 5, I would give it a 3. I do really like the colours and I am very happy that it lasted through the day. I don't think this is a bad palette for the price. I do wish the formula was a bit smoother for all the shadows to make application easier as well as blending. However if you're looking for an affordable palette that you can achieve mostly soft looks with, I would recommend The Blushed Nudes palette.

 Have you tried any of the nude palettes by Maybelline? What is your take on their palettes?
