My Favourite Apps (currently)

There’s just about nothing you can do now a days, without technology being involved.
I can certainly say that between my phone and my laptop, the majority of my day is spent using technology, whether it be for business, research, entertainment or educational purposes.
Today I’ve decided to share with you my favourite apps on my IPhone.

1. Pinterest

No matter if you’re into makeup, crafts, DIY, decorating, hair styling or if you’re looking for some inspiration for a party, business or fitness, Pinterest has it all.
I sometimes find myself losing track of time when I go into this app. I will start off looking for home decoration ideas and end up reading about life hacks. This may be my ultimate favourite app!
I love that by analyzing your past pins, Pinterest will recommend pins for you in your home feed.

2. Instagram
Instagram is defiantly my absolute favourite place to watch mini tutorials and look for picture inspirations for makeup and hair.
It is like a never ending beauty inspiration app.
I also love Instagram as a way to market business. There are so many potential customers and it’s easy to interact with them.

3. Apple Music
I am a huge music lover and this app is my go to! I love that it personalizes the suggestions for you so you’re only seeing new music that you will like.
The premade playlists are pretty awesome too. They have a playlist for just about anything whether it be a hip-hop workout playlist, wedding playlist, or bedtime playlist.
The Apple Music library is vast and also has a radio section, new music section and connect section where you can follow your favourite artists.

4. Google Calendar
If it wasn’t for my Google Calendar app I would never be on time/show up for half of my events or even make any of my set deadlines.
I love how organized this app is with colour coding, being able to set event times, being able to set  reminders and being able to block out entire days, weeks or months with events/projects.
This helps me out so much because I love organization and planning.

5. Period Tracker (Lite)
I feel like every girl should have a good period tracker. This one happens to be the best one for me out of all the ones I have tried.
It shows your projected period start date, as well as ovulation days which is great if you’re trying to conceive (or avoid it).
You can add symptoms, moods, track your weight, body temperature and keep track of your birth control pills as well as days you’re intimate.
It will tell you the average day in your cycle and break it down into months for you.
You can also turn on pregnancy mode which tells you your projected delivery date.

So there you have it. My favourite apps on my IPhone.
What are your favourite phone apps?!
Let me know in the comments.

Today I'm going to share a recipe that I have been using to help when I'm craving a Tim Horton's Iced Capp. It tastes just about the same and is a healthier alternative as well!

What You'll Need

Vanilla Almond Milk
Nescafe Instant Coffee
Sugar
Ice Cubes
Blender

Step One

Pour 8oz of the vanilla almond milk into your blender.

Step Two

Add one tablespoon of instant coffee into your almond milk. You can always add more or less depending on your liking of coffee and the strength of the coffee you are using.

Step Three

Add one tablespoon of sugar. Again this is really up to you and how sweet you prefer your drink to be, though less sugar is always better.

Step Four

Add your ice. I like to do 7-8 ice cubes to give it that Iced Capp frothiness.

Step Five

Blend and enjoy!

Here's a quick visual comparison of the DIY Iced Capp vs the Tim Horton's Iced Capp

The DIY is a little darker but overall not much difference.
When it comes to calories though, there's a pretty big difference.
The DIY Iced Capp has about 148 calories whereas the Tim Horton's Iced Capp (medium) has 360 calories. That's a 212 calorie difference!

If you get a chance to try this recipe, please leave a comment and let me know how it turned out. Also if you have your own similar recipe feel free to share.

There are two things I love more than anything; 1. Home Décor, 2. DIY projects. So naturally my home is a beautiful combination of the two. My goal is often to do them with things that I either already have or can purchase for a few dollars.  Setting the scene for future blog posts, I always keep a few things on hand and they won’t be added into the total cost of the project. These things are as followed: Mod Podge, assorted colors of glitter, E6000, assorted acrylic paints and brushes, scissors, blades, and a hot glue gun. These things, of course, aren’t mandatory by any means but they do come in handy in most of my projects.

Without further ado we come to our first project. We have all seen these hundreds of times in the movies and on T.V but I figured it was time to have one of my own….A secret compartment book! I know, I know, it seems a bit frivolous. But where else will you hide your candy bars from the kids and husband that they won’t find it?

The first step is to find a very large book. Large in page numbers. I received a book with a huge order a while back that was incorrect, Flawed Giant by Robert Dallek. Which in my house this book works perfectly because no one has read it since it passed our doorway. The book finishes out at about 750 pages.

The next step is to completely glue the first 20-30 pages together. This is where your paint brushes and Mod Podge come in handy. This process will take a bit of time, I said this was a fun project, not a quick one!

Place a sheet of paper between the glued chunk of pages and the non-glued ones. Now you are going to add a few coats of glue to the edge of the non-glued section to make your sides of the compartment.

Close the book and place a weight of some sort on top of it. You want it to be a heavy as possible to let the book dry in its normal closed position.

Next you are going to want to measure out a rectangle in the book leaving about an inch on all sides. A good rule of thumb is to cut the text portion out, leaving the margins behind. Now use your x-acto or box cutter and cut. This will take a while. You will cut through about 10-15 pages each time.  After this take a measurement of the sides of the rectangle and the depth of each side. (you’ll need these a little later and exact measurements will make it easier)

Amateur tip: Use a large box cutter, it’ll make your life easier.

Now you are going to want to glue the insides of the walls of the compartment you made along with the outsides of the book. Place the weight on them again and let it dry.

While they are drying, take those measurements and make a lining for your box. This step is optional but does help for a more uniform look. You can make the lining out of whatever your heart desires. I’ll be using some scrapbook paper. Cut out a rectange and four strips large enough for the inner sides of the box.

Once its dry, place and glue the lining inside of the box.

And Voila! We have ourselves a secret compartment box. What goodies will you hide in yours?

Total Cost: $0, using materials I already had.
