Petition on Change.org Calls for Jesse Williams to be Fired from Grey's Anatomy

"Jesse Williams spewed a racist, hate speech against law enforcement and white people at the BET awards. If this was a white person making the same speech about an African American, they would have been fired and globally chastised, as they should be, but there has been no consequences to Williams' actions."

I wish I could say this is shocking to me but I would have been more shocked had no one said anything. There's a real problem in this world when defending your race automatically has to equate to you being anti-white. Jesse literally spoke the truths of what is happening today. Not once did he say he hated white people or say minorities should hate white people. Nothing about his speech is racist and calling POC to demand equality is not hateful.

The part that really gets me about this petition is that it says, "This is about equal consequences for racist behavior."  Really? It's about equal consequences for racist behavior? Where are your petitions when POC have to face racism? Where is your petition when a police officer is acquitted after murdering an unarmed POC?

Even worse than this is that you have black people saying that Jesse has no right to speak on these things because he "isn't black enough." This is the part that is really disturbing. Black people want to tell someone when they're not black enough, yet want to be upset when someone thinks they're not white enough. The light skin, dark skin feud is just another mental block placed to divide the black community, and sadly it works fairly well. To a racist person no matter how much black you have in you, you're still black.

Take a listen to Jesse's speech down below if you haven't had a chance to hear it yet.
